JULY 5, 2000 The City of Franklin, Wisconsin, wants to make sure land to be used for the Indian Community School of Milwaukee won't become a reservation or house a casino. School officials haved offere to create a deed restriction stating the land would never house a casino, but Mayor Fred Klimetz said a plan that would require the school to obtain a special permit giving the city control over land use, traffic patterns, and taxaion would be better. In April, a New Mexico District Court ruled that the Santa Fe Indian School in New Mexico is legally Indian Country. Get the Story:
