FROM THE ARCHIVE
DECEMBER 5, 2000 Students at the Little Big Horn College on the Crow Reservation in Montana are planning on expanding their protests and may take over the campus in support of President Janine Pease Pretty On Top. Their plans come in response to tribal Chairman Clifford Bird in Ground, who on Monday said the tribe would stay out of the dispute. Bird in Ground had ordered the removal of some of the members of the college's board of trustees, but has now decided not to have them replaced and has canceled mediation on the issue. Some members of the college's board voted to have Pretty on Top removed. They named an interim President, but he has turned down the job. Pretty on Top has also filed an injunction to prevent her from being removed. A hearing in tribal court is scheduled on Friday.
