Lithium Nevada’s open pit lithium mine can be seen under construction in Thacker Pass, Nev. on Oct. 10, 2023. Members of the Paiute and Shoshone tribes believe that the mine is located where their ancestors were massacred by the 1st Nevada Calvary in 1865. It is a sacred site to those tribes.
