• $250 = Support the clothing stipend for one participant! Leadership Summit attendees are provided a small stipend to purchase business formal attire for the conference and prepare them for the professional world.

The Federal Communications Commission’s (FCC) Consumer and Governmental Affairs Bureau (CGB) in partnership with the Federal Trade Commission will host a webinar providing information to consumers on how to avoid frauds and scams that are prevalent during the holiday season on December 19, 2022 at 1:00 pm EST.

During the holiday season, as consumers are busier than usual, fraudsters take advantage of the season to unleash holiday scams aimed at unsuspecting. Staff from the FCC’s Consumer Affairs and Outreach Division and the Federal Trade Commission’s Division of Consumer and Business Education will share information on how to avoid scams when purchasing goods and services online through websites; unwanted robocalls and robotexts; charitable contributions schemes and cellphone and email fraudulent activities.

First Peoples Worldwide announced that The Christensen Fund devoted $100,000 to the Rebecca Adamson Indigenous Rights & Business Scholarship Fund. This large gift by an Indigenous-led and Indigenous-focused organization will support near full-ride scholarships for two students at the University of Colorado’s Leeds School of Business, creating the scholarship’s first cohort of students.

In 2019, First Peoples Worldwide and the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado established the Rebecca Adamson Indigenous Rights & Business Scholarship in honor of First Peoples Worldwide’s founder and Indigenous economist Rebecca Adamson.

Working with many organizations, companies, and communities, Rebecca has spent some 50 years harnessing traditional Indigenous knowledge for contemporary application. She had the foresight to mobilize investors and Indigenous Peoples to shift corporate behavior towards robust consideration of Indigenous Peoples’ rights.

The scholarship is open to incoming full-time MBA students who belong to a federally recognized American Indian tribe who demonstrate a commitment to Indigenous rights. Separate essay due by February 1, 2023.

This position will function as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Island Enterprises Inc. The incumbent in this position is responsible for leading IEI business development efforts, developing a strategic plan with measurable targets to achieve stated goals, leadership development and providing expertise and direction to the management of all of Tribal enterprises operating under IEI.

The primary focus would be in the areas of new business development, strategic and business planning development and execution, human resource development, team building, financial and operations management and reporting. The CEO provides effective leadership and vision for IEI to grow responsibly, in a profitable and sustainable manner.

The position will regularly interact and collaborate with Squaxin Island Tribal Council, Squaxin Island Government Administration leadership, Little Creek Casino Resort leadership, and other local, state and federal economic development agency personnel.
