The Treasury Tribal Advisory Committee (TTAC) held its ninth meeting on October 26, 2022 at the U.S. Department of the Treasury in Washington, D.C. All six members of the TTAC were present in person and virtually.

They were joined by U.S. Secretary of the Treasury Janet Yellen for opening remarks, and Treasurer of the United States, Chief Lynn Malerba, for the duration of the meeting. Key federal partners from various offices within Treasury and the Internal Revenue Service were also represented at the meeting.

The meeting focused on welcoming the three newest members of TTAC, the appointment of new technical advisors, the official submission of the GWE report, filling vacant chairs seats in committees and subcommittees, and federal updates.

Please join Children’s Funding Project and the National Indian Child Care Association for the third, and final, webinar in a series about strategic public financing for tribal nations. The third webinar, “How Emerging Funding Strategies Can Help Tribal Nations Support Child and Youth Programs,” will provide:

• ideas for creative funding sources to support programs and services for children and youth and
• examples of creative funding strategies in action.

This webinar will demonstrate ways to expand opportunities for children through new and innovative sources of public funding. In our first two webinars we discussed how tribes can identify and align their existing funding. This webinar will explore current successful practices that can generate new funding for children and youth.

Knowing that most programs and services for kids are underfunded, communities across the country are looking for strategic—and creative—new sources of funding. Federal grants come and go, and their heavy reporting requirements and restrictions can inhibit access to funding and implementation of new programs. By exploring innovative funding sources, tribes can be at the forefront of improving the quality and availability of services for children, leading to better outcomes for Native kids.

In partnership with Native Americans in Philanthropy (NAP) as our funder, USET SPF is leading the coordination and management of providing a limited number of stipend payments to support Tribal Leaders from across Indian Country who want to attend the White House Tribal Nations Summit (WHTNS). To qualify, individuals must (1) self-attest a financial need, (2) be a representative of a federally-recognized Tribal Nation, and (3) have been accepted by the White House as the Designated Attendee for their federally-recognized Tribal Nation.

President Biden is hosting the White House Tribal Nations Summit on November 30 – December 1, 2022, in Washington, D.C. The Summit is an opportunity for the President and senior leaders from his Administration to meet with Tribal Leaders and engage in robust and meaningful Nation-to-Nation dialogue on key issues, policy initiatives, and goals for Indian Country.

Stipends in the amount of $2,500 will be made available on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are exhausted. Stipends will be paid directly to the federally-recognized Tribal Nation.

Under the Direction of the San Pasqual Business Committee, the Tribal Project Administrator oversees governmental programs, supervises various departments, and implements governmental policies.

The Tribal Project Administrator has a liaison relationship between the tribal government and the Business Committee. This position provides direction and enables the Business Committee to carry out its governance functions.
