More than a decade before Alaska became a state, and two decades before Martin Luther King, Jr.’s March on Selma in Alabama, Elizabeth Peratrovich (Tlingit) made a lasting mark on the future of civil rights.

Alaska just celebrated the annual day set aside for her. Native America Calling will take another look at her contributions to civil rights in Alaska and beyond.
