The Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Review Committee is looking for a new member. The committee is charged with monitoring the federal government's implementation of the Native American Graves Protection and Repatriation Act. The panel also resolves disputes that arise under the 1990 law. Of the seven members of the committee, at least two must be considered "traditional Indian religious leaders." Nominations are being sought for a new traditional leader to join the panel. "The Secretary of the Interior will appoint the member from nominations submitted by Indian tribes, Native Hawaiian organizations, and traditional Native American religious leaders," a notice published in the Federal Register reads. The nominations are due in writing by September 26. The committee's last meeting took place in Missoula, Montana, in July. Additional teleconferences are scheduled in September and December.
