Andrew Jackson, the president who led the forced removal of Indian nations from their homelands in the Southeast, is finally getting the old heave-ho. Jackson's image on the $20 bill will be replaced by that of African American abolitionist Harriet Tubman, according to news reports. New designs are expected to be ready by 2020, the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage. The Treasury Department had considered placing a woman on the $10 bill alongside that of Alexander Hamilton, who was the first Treasurer of the United States. But pressure remained to remove Jackson from the $20 note, with the late Wilma Mankiller, the first woman to lead the Cherokee Nation, emerging as a potential pick. Get the Story:
