Togiak Tribe banishes two brothers for alleged drug trafficking

The Togiak Tribe of Alaska has banished two men for allegedly bringing drugs and alcohol into the community.

The men are brothers, KDLG reported. A 23-year-old was banished last year and a 26-year-old was banished last week, the station said.

"I think we need to do this, to protect our future children, and our elders, because they're vulnerable. It’s been getting worse, and we’re saying enough is enough," President Jimmy Coopchiak told KDLG.

The tribe sent letters to local air carriers, urging them not to allow the men to travel to the village, which is located in Bristol Bay.
