The Northern Cheyenne Tribe of Montana is taking action to address crime and drug issues on the reservation.

The tribe imposed two emergency orders in the last two days, according to news reports. One imposes a curfew in all public areas while the other warns that non-members will face banishment for dealing drugs.

"Crime, including drug-related offenses, has increased on the Northern Cheyenne Reservation in recent months,” President Llevando Fisher told The Billings Gazette.

A shooting incident on Saturday helped spur action, according to news reports. It occurred in the middle of the day at a gas station and convenience store in Lame Deer.
