Police from the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe of Michigan responded this morning to an accident that's being blamed on heroin. A 27-year-old driver crashed into a telephone police near the Saginaw Chippewa Academy, the tribe's elementary school, The Mt. Pleasant Morning Sun reported. No one was injured, the paper said.

The tribe declared a war on substance abuse last year in response to drug issues in the community. Heroin has been of particular concern -- a tribal member died after overdosing on the drug in February and two women were banished after being found with a large amount of the drug. Get the Story:
