Native youth send message to President Barack Obama to reject Keystone XL Pipeline.
The Senate today failed to override a veto by President Barack Obama of S.1, the Keystone XL Pipeline Approval Act. The roll call was 62 to 37. Although the vote represented a majority, it failed to reach the two-thirds threshold required to override a veto. Every Republican voted to override the veto and so did eight Democrats. They included two members of the Senate Indian Affairs Committee -- Sen. Jon Tester (D-Montana), the vice chairman, and Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-North Dakota). Obama still must decide whether to approve a permit for the controversial Keystone XL Pipeline. Get the Story:
