Holding things together in Lakota country

Because of the internet, I normally don’t have to drop by a library and research. I can write a column bristling with critical detail and never leave the comfort of my home. I should be in hog heaven, all this information at my fingertips.

But the topic I normally cover, Lakota country, hasn’t kept up with the Information Age. Pages are set up on the internet, with the intent of supplying timely information about an event, about sports rosters, but you find many of them haven’t been updated for years. Nobody is manning the battle stations, dotting the i’s, crossing the t’s.

They started with the best of intentions, but eventually it became a bother and it became somebody else’s worry and responsibility, only apparently, nobody informed somebody else it was all up to him now.
