Four Native chefs are lined up to participate in the second annual Native Food and Wine event, hosted by the Southwestern Association for Indian Arts. Ray Naranjo (Tewa, Odawa and Crow); Loretta Barrett Oden (Citizen Potawatomi); Jack Strong (Siletz) and Ben Jacobs (Osage) are creating a unique menu for diners in Santa Fe, New Mexico, on October 16. Their dishes draw inspiration from Native cuisines and Native ingredients like pumpkin, juniper berries and corn. "SWAIA is honored to present such a group of talented Native American chefs to represent this year’s Food and Wine event,” Dallin Maybee, the organization's chief operating officer, said in a press release. "Food is another form of art and we are pleased to continue to support Native arts across the nation.” The event will be held at the Hotel Santa Fe.
