Two tribes have contributed to the Ronald McDonald House in Loma Linda, California. In May, the San Manuel Band of Mission Indians donated $5.6 million for the facility's renovation and expansion. That's nearly half of the $12 million needed for the project. “Over many years of partnership with Loma Linda Ronald McDonald House, San Manuel has sought to foster a supportive, communal environment that contributes to the well-being of young patients and their families,” Chairwoman Lynn Valbuena said in a press release. “This gift will allow more families to remain together and find support through the close community the house provides.” The Cabazon Band of Mission Indians donated another $40,000 on Monday. Plans call for 33 new rooms to provide housing for families of hospitalized children. "Once open, the House will be able to serve nearly 7,500 individuals every year!" the non-profit states on its website. The expansion is expected to be complete in 2017. Get the Story:
