The Catawba Nation of South Carolina is developing plans for a $350 million movie studio on its reservation.

The tribe is working with a group called Studio South on the 124-acre project. The Catawba Studios could include sound stages, a hotel, a cultural center, a school for film and music and retail and office space, The State newspaper reported.

“We are doing our due diligence,” Chief Bill Harris told the paper. “Is this good for the tribe, good for York County?”

The tribe and Studio South are seeking financing for the project. Other tribes are interested in investing, Harris told the paper.
