Federal prosecutors unveiled a new indictment in an ongoing corruption probe affecting the Chippewa Cree Tribe of Montana. Shad Huston is accused of bribing the tribe's roads director in exchange for a contract, the Associated Press reported. His company received $10.6 million in federal funds the new charges come on top of a prior indictment for his activity on the Rocky Boy's Reservation. So far at least 18 former leaders, officials and associates of the tribe have been caught in the probe. Most have pleaded guilty or were found guilty at trial although some cases are still being resolved. Huston was due to go to trial earlier this week until the new indictment was unsealed. He's now scheduled for trial on August 24, the AP said. Bruce Sunchild, a former chairman of the tribe, also has two pending trials, the AP reported. The widespread fraud on the reservation has put Montana on nationwide list of judicial districts with the most government corruption prosecutions. Get the Story:
