The Ho-Chunk Nation of Wisconsin opened the doors to Sii Woonazi Hocira, a housing facility for veterans, last week.

The $1.5 million, 11,000-square-foot building is located in Black River Falls. It provides 10 apartments for veterans who need help with housing, job training and other services.

"We’re going to put a roof over their heads and the rest will follow,” Neil Whitegull, the executive director of the Ho-Chunk Housing and Community Development Agency, told The La Crosse Tribune.

Scott Kingswan, a veteran, is the first resident of the Ho-Chunk Veterans Supportive Housing Project. He said moving into the facility will bring stability to his life.
