Rep. Jared Polis (D-Colorado) is continuing his state's tradition of wearing bolo ties on Capitol Hill.

Polis got his tie as a gift from someone with the Epilepsy Foundation of Colorado, The Washington Post reported. His bolo has a tribal origin although the paper didn't specify which.

"Lovin this bolo tie constituent gave to me yesterday," Polis said on Twitter.

Retired Sen. Ben Nighthorse Campbell (R-Colorado), a member of the Northern Cheyenne Tribe, regularly wore a bolo tie during his days in Washington, D.C. He even addressed the Senate in traditional regalia on September 21, 2004, during the opening day celebration for the National Museum of the American Indian.

Former Sen. Ken Salazar (D-Colorado), who went on to serve as secretary of the Interior Department for President Barack Obama, also wore bolo ties.
