A member of the Te-Moak Tribe of Western Shoshone in Nevada has been charged with sexual abuse of a child.

Mark Ward Oppenhein, 51, was arrested last July on charges of sexual contact with a child under the age of 12 and sexual contact without permission, The Salt Lake Tribune reported. Federal prosecutors say the crime occurred on the reservation of the Confederated Goshute Tribes in Utah.

Oppenhein is scheduled to go to trial on April 20, the paper said. A federal magistrate has ordered him to be released to a halfway house, a decision opposed by prosecutors who believe there may be other victims on the reservation.

"The FBI has learned that additional women have come forward and said they were victims when they were younger," Assistant U.S. Attorney Paige Petersen said in court, the paper reported.
