The Crow Tribe signed a memorandum of understanding with the American Red Cross of Montana.

The MOU describes how the tribe and the Red Cross will work together in the event of a natural disaster. It's the first of its kind in the state.

“The American Red Cross is deeply committed to providing humanitarian aid to all people affected by disaster, including the members of sovereign tribal nations within Montana’s borders,” Rod Kopp, the CEO of Montana Red Cross, said in a press release. “This agreement will allow for a much faster and more efficient response in the event of a disaster on Crow land.”

The agreement was signed June 26, during the Crow Native Days celebration.
