The Poarch Band of Creek Indians in Alabama continues to invest in Florida.

The tribe has helped finance two hotels, including the $24 million Fort Walton Beach Holiday Inn Resort. The new facility, which is located on land owned by Eglin Air Force Base, opened at the end of May.

The tribe's partner on the project was Innisfree Hotels. They also worked together on the $24 million Hyatt Place, which opened last year at the airport in Pensacola.

The tribe's headquarters are in Atmore, Alabama, but many tribal members live in the Pensacola area and travel back and forth for work, social and family obligations. The tribe also has trust land in the area.
