Poster for the 100th Meskwaki Pow Wow, August 6-10, 2014.
The Meskwaki Tribe of Iowa is celebrating the 100th anniversary of its modern-era powwow. Historically, the tribe gathered every summer for its harvest celebration. The event eventually turned into Field Days, a week-long social event that was held from 1900 to 1912. In 1912, tribal leaders formed a committee that organized the first powwow the following year, in 1913. The event has been held at the same location on the reservation every year since then. This year's powwow takes place August 6-10.
