NCAIED hosts Reservation Economic Summit in nation's capital

The National Center for American Indian Enterprise Development is hosting its first Reservation Economic Summit in Washington, D.C., this week.

More than 350 tribal leaders, Indian entrepreneurs and federal, state and local officials are attending the summit, which kicks off today. Speakers include Assistant Secretary Kevin Washburn of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Maria Contreras-Sweet of the Small Business Administration and Raina Thiele of the White House Office of Public Engagement.

Gary Davis, the president and CEO of NCAIED, will be testifying at a Senate Indian Affairs Committee hearing tomorrow on economic development. He is a member of the Cherokee Nation

"We are very excited to bring Indian Country to DC with our first Reservation Economic Summit in the nation’s capital,” Davis said today. “Through informative sessions and speakers, our procurement expo, private sector and government networking opportunities, and now with our National Center Edge initiative, we truly do mean business for Indian Country.”

The conference concludes on Thursday.
