Unregistered sex offenders on Wind River facing prosecution

Unregistered sex offenders on the Wind River Reservation in Wyoming face prosecution in tribal or federal court, authorities said.

The Wind River Sex Offender Registration Office, the U.S. Marshal’s Service and the Bureau of Indian Affairs conducted an operation last week to locate and verify the addresses of all sex offenders on the reservation. Some non-compliant offenders were identified but the number was not disclosed.

The unregistered offenders could be prosecuted by the Eastern Shoshone Tribe, the Northern Arapaho Tribe or the federal government.
