Late Chickasaw Nation ambassador to join tribe's Hall of Fame

The late Charles Blackwell will be inducted into the Chickasaw Nation Hall of Fame.

Blackwell served as the tribe's ambassador to the U.S. for nearly 20 years. He resided in Washington, D.C., and worked to improve the federal-tribal relationship up until his death in January 2013.

Blackwell will be inducted at a ceremony on May 1.This year's other Hall of Fame honorees are storyteller and fluent speaker Irene L. Digby; retired Army National Guard Master Sgt. Marvin Mitchell; physician James Wilburn Hampton; and educator Silas C. Wolf Jr.
