Dry Creek Rancheria aims to remove more than 75 from the rolls

The Dry Creek Rancheria of California is planning to remove more than 75 people from the rolls.

Chairman Harvey Hopkins sent out disenrollment letters this month, The Santa Rosa Press-Democrat reported. The tribe contends the people don't qualify for membership.

“They're taking away my kids' heritage,” Cody Cordova, who is among those facing removal, told the paper.

Cordova said his great-grandmother was on the original tribal census. His father is a former chairman.

Hopkins said people who received letters can provide documentation to prove their membership status.
