Voters of Tulalip Tribes oust two incumbents in board election

Members of the Tulalip Tribes of Washington went to the polls on Saturday to choose three members of the board of directors.

Voters ousted Mel Sheldon, who currently serves as chairman, and Chuck James, who currently serves as treasurer. Only board member Glen Gobin won re-election.

“The membership was ready for a change,” Les Parks, who won the most votes in the election and a seat on the tribe's board of directors, told The Everett Herald.

Herman Williams Sr. also won a seat on the board. He was subsequently chosen as chairman.

Parks was chosen as vice chair. He replaces Deborah Parker, who remains on the board.
