Oklahoma Department of Human Services
is investigation an adoption agency that was involved in a high-profile
Indian Child Welfare Act
dispute.
Heritage Family Services
has a DHS contract to provide a report in cases where a child is adopted across state lines, News on 6 reported. The issue arose when a
Cherokee Nation
girl was adopted by a non-Indian couple in South Carolina.
The chairman of the board for the agency served as the attorney for that couple.
