The
Lac du Flambeau Band of Lake Superior Chippewa
received a $130,000 grant from the state of Wisconsin for its wellness court.
The Healing To Wellness Court focuses on keeping non-violent drug offenders out of jail. The goal is to provide treatment and support.
The tribe declared a war on drugs last year. More than 20 people have been arrested and some people have been banished for trafficking illicit substances on the reservation.
