Two young members of the
Coeur d'Alene Tribe of Idaho died on Sunday after falling into an icy pond.
Siblings Jose Reyes, 9, and Eleana Maravilla, 5, went chasing after a dog when they fell through the ice. Their grandmother pulled them out of the pond but it was too late to save them.
"Our hearts go out to the family of these young ones," Police Chief Cody SiJohn told The Coeur d'Alene Press. "When you deal with any emergency that involves children, you can't help but be affected by it. Today, our entire community is mourning the loss of these children whose lives were tragically cut short."
