The
Onondaga Nation
has spent years pushing for cleanup at a sacred lake but was surprised when New York
Gov. Andrew Cuomo
(D) announced a $30 million project there.
Cuomo mentioned the project as part of his budget proposal but didn't offer details. He also didn't tell the tribe.
"No one has reached out to the nation," attorney Joe Heath told The Syracuse Post-Standard.
Local officials who have been told about the project wouldn't comment when asked by the paper.
