A supervisor in Santa Barbara County, California, is hosting a meeting to discuss a land-into-trust application submitted by the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians. Third District Supervisor Doreen Farr has frequently been critical of the tribe. She voted to sue the Bureau of Indian Affairs for approving the tribe's land consolidation plan. The tribe filed an application for 1,400 acres within the land consolidation zone. Plans call for a portion to be used for housing. Farr's meeting takes place tomorrow. Get the Story:
