Wednesday, February 20, 2013
Cherokee Nation Chief Bill John Baker said he will sign a bill that requires elected officials to undergo random drug tests.
The Elected Officials Drug Testing Act applies to the principal chief, the deputy chief and the Cherokee Nation Council. Tribal employees already undergo drug tests.
“I think it shows accountability for us and accountability for our employees. I think this is a good policy," council member David Thornton said, The Cherokee Phoenix reported.
