Arizona's
Child Protective Services
is under fire for failing to investigate 6,554 allegations of child abuse over the last five years.
Gov. Jan Brewer
(R) has convened a
Child Advocate Response Examination
team to determine why so many cases were marked "N.I." for "Not Investigated." Some 5,000 claims came through a hotline that she took credit for reorganizing, The New York Times reported.
Clarence H. Carter, the director of the
Department of Economic Security
, which oversees the child welfare agency, is facing calls to resign.
