Navajo-Jewish family blends traditions with 'Thanksgivukkah'

A Navajo-Jewish couple has come up with their own unique holiday traditions.

Faith Roessel, who grew up on the Navajo Nation, converted to Judaism before marrying Matthew Slater, whose ancestors fled persecution in Europe. Their three sons -- Carl, 22, Aaron, 19, and Sam, 15 -- call themselves "Nava-Jews."

“We are who we are. It’s not like there’s one day we remember that," Roessel, a former Capitol Hill staffer, told The Washington Post.

The family celebrates Thanksgivukkah - a blend of Thanksgiving and Hanukkah, the Jewish Festival of Lights.
