Tonto Apache Tribe's police chief charged for domestic violence

The acting police chief for the Tonto Apache Tribe of Arizona was arrested on Monday in connection with a domestic violence incident.

Authorities say Samuel Lujan, 47, took a department-issued rifle to a home where his wife was staying and shot up her car. He had been served with divorce papers.

Lujan left the scene and was taken into custody after a standoff with police in Navajo County. He was charged with suspicion of domestic violence, assault, drive-by shooting, misuse of body armor for wearing his department-issued gear and trespassing.
