Ex-housing director of Narragansett Tribe sentenced for theft





The former director of housing for the Narragansett Tribe of Rhode Island was sentenced for stealing federal funds.

Rosilyn W. Brown, 63, admitted that she took more than $100,000 in funds provided to the tribe by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. She was sentenced to one year and a day in prison and ordered to pay $120,000 in restitution.

Chief Sachem Matthew Thomas said he raised questions about misspending of HUD funds.
