Eastern Cherokee elders give notice to reservation bear park

Two elders of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians are planning to sue the operators of a bear park on the tribe's reservation in North Carolina.

Amy Walker and Peggy Hill say the Cherokee Bear Park is violating the Endangered Species Act. They want the animals released and placed in a sanctuary.

Under the ESA, the park has 60 days to respond to the notice. A lawsuit is possible.
