Jury returns guilty verdict for murders of Spirit Lake children

A federal jury convicted a 20-year-old man on Monday for the murders of two children on the Spirit Lake Nation in North Dakota.

Valentino “Tino” Bagola was found guilty of felony murder, child abuse and child sexual abuse. The victims were Destiny Jane Shaw-DuBois, 9, and Travis Lee DuBois Jr, 6.

The Grand Forks Herald said Bagola was a cousin to the children. They were killed in their father's home on the reservation in May 2011.

Bagola faces sentencing in December.
