OPB: Grand Ronde Tribes share history lessons with students

The Confederated Tribes of Grand Ronde in Oregon have developed history lessons that will be taught at a local public school:
Teachers at Willamina Elementary School are bringing tribal education into the classroom this year in a broader way.

The school will give fourth graders a total of 15 sessions on the history of the nearby Grand Ronde Tribe as part of the curriculum. The tribe created the lessons.

The tribe’s newspaper — Smoke Signals — reports that teachers will evaluate each lesson after they’re taught so they can be refined.
