Two top former staffers of the
Alaska Inter-Tribal Council have been indicted for theft in federal court.
Former executive director Steven D. Osborn and former finance director Thomas R. Purcell are accused of stealing nearly $236,000 from the nonprofit. Federal prosecutors say Osborn took most of the money and used it for personal gain.
Osborn and Purcell left the organization in spring 2009. The investigation took years to complete due to the need for a forensic accounting, The Anchorage Daily News reported.
