Fort McDermitt Paiute-Shoshone Tribe cleared for horse sale

The Fort McDermitt Paiute-Shoshone Tribe of Nevada will be able to sell 149 unbranded horses after a federal judge lifted a temporary restraining order.

Judge Miranda Du agreed with the federal government that the tribe is the rightful owner of the horses. Animal rights groups had tried to stop the sale of the animals, contending they were wild.

The tribe already sold more than 400 horses at an auction on Saturday.
