Oregon governor announces veto notice for Indian mascot bill

Oregon Gov. John Kitzhaber (D) officially gave his veto notice for Senate Bill 215, an Indian mascot bill.

The bill has drawn controversy because two tribes said they supported Indian mascots as long as they give their approval. Other tribes, however, support a ban on the use of Native American names, symbols or images as mascots.

Kitzhaber has only vetoed four bills this session, The Oregonian reported.
