Larry Echo Hawk, the former head of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, has moved to the Philippines, The Navajo Times reports.

Echo Hawk, who turns 65 on Friday, is serving as an area president for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He will be in the Philippines for three to five years.

"There are a lot of things I care deeply about, but my spiritual values are number one,' Echo Hawk, a member of the Pawnee Nation of Oklahoma, told the paper.

Echo Hawk served as assistant secretary for the BIA from May 2009 to May 2012.
