A recall effort against seven leaders of the Ketchikan Indian Community in Alaska has failed.

Tribal members failed to get enough signatures on their petitions, according to President Irene Dundas. She was among those were targeted for removal.

The KIC Recall Committee for Responsible Leadership circulated petitions to hold a special meeting and to recall the seven out of eight council members.

“There’s something wrong with this picture when the people being recalled can decide on the petition,” Martha Johnson, the co-chair of the committee, told The Ketchikan Daily News.
