Spokane man sentenced to seven years for assault on woman

Chet Arlie Moses, a 28-year-old member of the Spokane Tribe of Washington, was sentenced to seven years in federal prison for assaulting a woman.

Moses pleaded guilty to one count of committing an assault with a dangerous weapon. He admitted that he attacked the woman and used his fists and a shoe to beat her.

"Individuals like Chet Moses who commit serious assaults will be prosecuted aggressively and will face lengthy prison sentences," Michael C. Ormsby, the U.S. Attorney for the Eastern District of Washington, said in a press release.

The incident occurred on the Yakama Nation in Washington.
