The nonprofit
Lannan Foundation has filed suit against the attorneys who handled the
Cobell trust fund lawsuit.
Lannan said it gave more than $6 million to support the historic case with the promise of repayment.
The foundation said it received $1.5 million a few years ago but filed suit to claim another $4.54 million.
Congress enacted a law that settled the case for $3.4 billion. Of that amount, $99 million went to solo practitioner Dennis Gingold and the
Kilpatrick Townsend & Stockton law firm.
Lannan is suing Gingold and the firm in federal court in Washington, D.C.
