A federal judge has ordered a trailer park on the Torres Martinez Desert Cahuilla Reservation in southern California to close by June 30, The Riverside Press-Enterprise reported.

Upwards of 3,000 people used to live at the Desert Mobile Home Park, also known as Duroville. The state paid $10 million to relocate residents and only a few dozen remain.

The site is owned by Harvey Duro, a tribal member. He was sued by the Bureau of Indian Affairs due to deplorable conditions at the trailer park.

Many of the residents were Purepecha Indians from Mexico and Central America. At one point, they formed their own "tribal council" to address issues at the facility.
