Posted: Monday, May 13, 2013
Code Talkers from the
Muscogee Nation of Oklahoma will be receiving a Congressional Gold Medal for their service.
H.R.4544,
the Code Talkers Recognition Act of 2008, authorized Congress to award medals to
tribal code talkers who fought in World War I and World War II. The medals are
being designed to be unique to each tribe.
The Commission of Fine Arts and Citizens Coinage Advisory Committee have reviewed and made recommendations for the Muscogee Code Talker medal, Coin Update reports.
Images of the proposed designs can be found on Coin Update's website.
